Greenkeeping and sports turf jobs in the UK
Turf management for golf, cricket, football and other sports surfaces, where mowing precision and plant health meet.
Greenkeeping and sports turf management is the most precise form of amenity horticulture. Surfaces are cut to millimetre tolerances, irrigated and fed to a programme, aerated and top-dressed through the season, and presented for play on a fixed schedule that does not move for the weather.
The work combines machinery skill with turfgrass science: understanding soil structure, moisture, thatch and disease, and knowing how a mowing height or a fertiliser change will affect play. Most roles are at golf clubs, but cricket grounds, football and rugby clubs, racecourses and training facilities all employ turf staff.
